Kollias is a SUNY Empire Innovation Professor at the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at Stony Brook University with a joint appointment in the Environmental Science and Technologies Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory. He is also Adjunct Professor at the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at McGill University and Global Faculty at the University of Cologne.
For twenty-five years he has worked at the cutting edge of atmospheric experimentation. He is internationally recognized as one of the leading thinkers in the use of radars for atmospheric science, with more than 230 peer-reviewed publications and recipient of a 2013 Humboldt Research Fellowship and the 2020 AGU Atmospheric Sciences Ascent Award.
